The FITEK Premium Floor Mat is the leading mat on the market for floor protection and gym safety. It features a top layer of virgin EPDM rubber, which greatly improves the strength, durability and ease of maintenance, while still boasting all the advantages of our commercial Floor Mat.

The EPDM sheet is 2mm thick, on top of 13mm high-density crumb rubber. This means that spilt liquids or chalk can easily be wiped away with a cloth and water, instead of being permanently absorbed. On top of that, FITEK Premium Floor Mats are more durable and more resistant to wear and tear than ordinary floor mats. They are designed to last, which is why they come with a 3-year warranty.

FITEK Floor Mats contain no harmful substances. They are safe, durable, easy to maintain, environmentally friendly and best of all, affordable. Whether you operate a commercial gym, personal training or Pilates studio, martial arts or gymnastics centre, FITEK Floor Mats provide a non-slip surface that looks great and keeps your floors protected.

We have custom colour options available including red flecks, blue flecks and other colours, or completely black with no flecks, at your request. We also offer discounts on unit price and postage for bulk orders to give you an even better price. Please contact us for more information.

What makes FITEK Floor Mats different?

The 2mm thick EPDM top layer is what makes the FITEK Premium Floor Mat superior to its competition. Not only does this increase durability greatly, but it also has the added benefit of completely sealing the surface, to make cleaning completely hassle-free. Where other mats can absorb spilt liquids and chalk into the crumbed rubber particles and leave stains, FITEK Premium Floor Mats can be simply wiped clean without leaving ugly marks.

Just like our commercial Floor Mat, the crumbed rubber that FITEK Premium Floor Mats are made from is composed entirely of uniform small particles. This means that instead of leaving small particles on top and large particles on the bottom as other mats do, they are instead distributed evenly throughout the mat during the production process. The result is a better balance of durability and flexibility, with even strength throughout the mat.

Rubber Gym Mat Installation Guide (15mm Thick)

  1. Understanding Rubber Mat Variations

This is the nature of rubber, which means we can’t guarantee the exact size of a 15mm rubber mat.

Rubber mats may have small size variations due to manufacturing tolerances. Some mats may be slightly longer or shorter, which is normal and does not affect performance.

  1. Use a Brick Pattern Layout

Instead of a standard grid layout, stagger the mats in a brick pattern.

  • Reduces visible gaps
  • Minimizes misalignment
  • Creates a more even and professional look

Each row shifts by 50cm to help minimize misalignment.

  1. Adjusting Without Cutting

Since trimming isn’t an option, use these adjustment techniques:

A. Rotate Mats to Match Size Differences

If some mats are slightly longer or shorter, rotate them 90° or 180° to align similar sizes together. Matching longer sides with longer ones and shorter sides with shorter ones creates a cleaner finish.

B. Compression Fit

Start in One Corner: Work from a fixed edge and push mats tightly together.

Use a Rubber Mallet or Steel-Toe Safety Boots:

  • Use a rubber mallet to tap along the seams and compress the mats together.
  • If no mallet is available, wear steel-toe safety boots and firmly step along the seams to close small gaps.

Press Down on Overlaps: If one mat is slightly longer, press it down firmly to match its neighbors.

C. Edge Adjustment

Place uneven mats toward the wall where gaps are less noticeable. Use rubber-safe double-sided tape underneath to hold mats in place and prevent shifting.

  1. Securing the Mats
  • Rubber-Safe Double-Sided Tape: Helps keep mats from shifting without permanent adhesion.
  • Compression Fit: Ensures a snug installation by pressing and tapping mats together

EPDM Surface Finish Differences

Regarding the EPDM surface, some mats may appear slightly glossy or matte under direct sunlight due to natural variations in the material’s curing process. However, this difference is only visible under certain light reflections and will naturally blend over time with regular use.

This does not affect the performance or durability of the mats, and based on experience, the slight difference disappears after a period of foot traffic and wear.
